SKU/stock numbers are alphanumeric codes (having both letters and numbers) that help track and identify items in your inventory.
For each item you add to your inventory, you can manually enter a number in the SKU/stock number field, or Studio can generate a number for you. The generated number is based on settings found in the desktop app, which you can change at any time.
The current default is a simple SKU/stock number system with one format for all items, i.e.:
• a prefix of letters (“SKU” or the company name/abbreviation e.g. RON for Ronati)
• an optional separator (hyphen or underscore)
• sequential numbering (up to 5 digits) e.g. RON001, RON002, RON003 etc.
Some dealers use a complex SKU/stock number system with differing prefixes and numbering systems for items of different categories e.g. TABLE001 for tables, LAMPS001 for lamps, SEAT001 for seating, etc. Future updates for Studio will include capability for such a system. If you would like use a complex SKU system, we recommend leaving the "prefix" blank when setting your inventory settings.
